Dosidicus gigas
This adult jumbo squid was caught by squid jig aboard the NOAA Ship David Starr Jordan during the 2007 juvenile shark survey near the Channel Islands. The squid's tentacles are wrapped around the squid jig used to catch it. The yellow plastic on the jig glows in the dark, and the light attracts the squid to the jig underwater.
