U.S. Antarctic Marine Living Resources (AMLR) Program scientists completed several key studies during two brief occupations of the Copacabana Field Camp this season. For two weeks in November and three weeks in January, teams of two scientists carried out studies of Adélie and gentoo penguin breeding success, foraging trip duration and range, and diet. Copacabana is now closed for the season, but similar studies on Antarctic fur seals and gentoo and chinstrap penguins continue at the Cape Shirreff Field Camp. Details about research activities at both field camps can be found on the updated AERD Current Field Season page, along with all weekly reports from the AMLR field camps and the August 2013 winter cruise, and a time-lapse video of the AMLR Winter Cruise, which condenses a month-long voyage into the Antarctic winter into 13 minutes.
