|  | |  | | Research Interests:LTJG David Vejar is originally from San Diego, CA and was commissioned into the NOAA Corps in August 2009. From 2010-2012, he was stationed in Pearl Harbor, HI while serving aboard the NOAA R/V Hi`ialakai as Navigation Officer. LTJG Vejar has sailed throughout the Pacific Ocean, as south as the Samoan Islands and as east as the Northern Marianas. In 2010, LTJG Vejar received a Director’s Ribbon for his efforts in successfully coordinating an oil spill response within a highly-sensitive area. In early 2011, LTJG Vejar received a Unit Citation Award for assisting in rescue efforts of 12 scientists in the wake of the Fukushima Tsunami. In late 2011, LTJG Vejar received a NOAA Achievement Medal for his contributions in standardizing shipboard environmental practices throughout the NOAA fleet. LTJG Vejar reported to AERD in January 2012 as Camp Logistics Coordinator and Fisheries Biologist.
