Research Interests:LTJG David Vejar is originally from San Diego, CA and was commissioned into the NOAA Corps in August 2009. From 2010-2012, he was stationed in Pearl Harbor, HI while serving aboard the NOAA R/V Hi`ialakai as Navigation Officer. LTJG Vejar has sailed throughout the Pacific Ocean, as south as the Samoan Islands and as east as the Northern Marianas. In 2010, LTJG Vejar received a Director’s Ribbon for his efforts in successfully coordinating an oil spill response within a highly-sensitive area. In early 2011, LTJG Vejar received a Unit Citation Award for assisting in rescue efforts of 12 scientists in the wake of the Fukushima Tsunami. In late 2011, LTJG Vejar received a NOAA Achievement Medal for his contributions in standardizing shipboard environmental practices throughout the NOAA fleet. LTJG Vejar reported to AERD in January 2012 as Camp Logistics Coordinator and Fisheries Biologist. He hopes to exceed the professionalism, motivation and competence that is expected of a NOAA Corps Officer.
