Research Interests:I'm a quantitative fisheries ecologist and am interested in fisheries stock assessment and the population dynamics of marine species. I'm currently working on a stock assessment model for southeast Alaskan sea otters. Sea otters were translocated to southeast Alaska in the 1970s and we want to understand their spatial population dynamics and predict future population trends. I’m also investigating modeling approaches used to develop indices of abundance from observer data for use in stock assessment models. In addition to my research, I enjoy teaching environmental education and mentoring students to prepare them for careers in the sciences.
