|  | |  | | Research Interests:Brian Shamblin, Ph.D., is a postdoctoral research associate with the Marine Turtle Genetics Program. His graduate work focused on stock structure of loggerhead and green turtle rookeries in the Northwest Atlantic. During his time at the University of Georgia, he developed microsatellite markers for a variety of species ranging from eastern hemlock trees to leatherback turtles. A primary current project is the genetic mark-recapture of the northern recovery unit loggerhead turtles nesting in Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia with the goals of estimating population size and evaluating clutch frequency, nest site fidelity, and remigration intervals. Another major project involves reevaluation of stock structure of Greater Caribbean and South Atlantic green turtle rookeries using mitogenomic markers to improve resolution of mixed stock analyses. A unifying theme of his research interests is application of genetic tools to assess population connectivity and demographic parameters in species with complex life histories. | Education:- Ph.D. University of Georgia, 2011
