|  | |  | | Research Interests:I use an ecosystem approach to address cetacean management and conservation questions in the eastern Pacific Ocean. Examples of specific questions include the influence of spatial scale on species-habitat models, whether prey indices improve predictions of marine mammal distributions, and how to use ecosystem data to interpret trends in marine mammal abundance. I use statistical models to address these questions. I am also actively involved in designing ecosystem sampling strategies for the cetacean and ecosystem assessment cruises conducted by the Protected Resources Division, including determining what data to collect and how frequently it should be collected.
