My research addresses questions about the factors influencing cetacean distributions in the eastern Pacific Ocean. Of particular importance is the relationship between cetacean distributions and oceanographic variables such as temperature, salinity, thermocline depth, nutrient concentration, chlorophyll concentration, and primary productivity. Additionally, the distribution of prey fish and squid should influence cetacean distributions. I will explore the influence of these factors on cetacean distributions using a Geographic Information System and multivariate statistical models.
