The NOAA ships David Starr Jordan and McArthur II are the SWFSC’s platforms for fishery and protected species field research along the U.S. west coast and in the eastern tropical Pacific Ocean. The Advanced Technologies Program, located in the Fisheries Research Division at SWFSC, designs and deploys a series of instrumented small-craft to augment fisheries research in areas difficult to access with larger NOAA research vessels.
