Hawaii false killer whales genetically distinct, says scientists.

The Honolulu Advertiser reported today that researchers from NOAA Fisheries Southwest Fisheries Science Center in La Jolla, Cascadia Research Collective in Washington, and Wild Whale Research Foundation in Honolulu have identified a genetically distinct population of false killer whales in Hawaiian waters.  Results from the study have been recently published in the Canadian Journal of Zoology and the newspaper story can be read at http://www.honoluluadvertiser.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2007708060320.This link is an external site.
