Model Presented to the Sacramento River Temperature Task Group

SWFSC Fisheries Ecology Division researchers Eric Danner and Andrew Pike gave a presentation on a high-resolution river temperature model and web-based user interface to the Sacramento River Temperature Task Group (SRTTG) in Sacramento, California. The SRTTG is a group of federal and state fisheries and water managers that determine water temperature targets for the Sacramento River below Shasta dam.

The main purpose of the meeting was to get feedback on how to make the river temperature model, a collaboration between NOAA, NASA, and UC Santa Cruz, most useful for the SRTTG. The model can be used to examine how changes in the operation of Shasta dam affect river temperature below the dam under historical, current, or forecast conditions.
