CPUE Index for Yelloweye Rockfish Re-assessment

Last fall, the Pacific Fishery Management Council asked for an expedited re-assessment of yelloweye rockfish, and the work is currently being done by a team of stock assessment scientists from the Washington Department of Fisheries. Alec MacCall (Fisheries Ecology Division, Groundfish Analysis Team) assisted the Yelloweye Rockfish Stock Assessment Team by preparing a delta-GLM CPUE index of yelloweye rockfish abundance in northen California based on RecFIN samples collected from 1980 to 2003. The results show a clear decline, with the 2000-2003 average being about 30 percent of the 1980s average. Precision was good, with CVs of 20 to 30 percent over most of the time series.
