Klamath Salmon Genetic Stock ID in the News

Carlos Garza and the Molecular Ecology Team were featured in an evening news story on the San Francisco Bay Area NBC station (Channel 11) on October 3, 2006. The story described genetic stock ID technology as a potential breakthrough that will help commercial salmon fishermen stay in business. Ongoing genetic analysis could allow fishery managers to determine which areas in the ocean can be fished without catching endangered Klamath River salmon. Garza was interviewed and the SWFSC Fisheries Ecology Division appeared in the footage. (October 17, 2006)
