Historical Eastern North Pacific Gray Whale Cow/Calf Counts

The Cetacean Health and Life History Program with the Marine Mammal Division at Southwest Fisheries Science Center has been monitoring the northbound migration of gray whale cows with calves since 1994 at Piedras Blancas Light House in San Simeon, CA. The counts of mothers with calves is highly variable as shown on the graphs below. For additional information, visit our web page on the Survey of Northward Migrating Gray Whales.
