Scientists at the SWFSC are involved in a variety of areas of research concerned with how atmospheric climate influences the ocean and how changes in the ocean environment affect the dynamics of marine resources.  These studies encompass ecosystem scale data collection, assessments and forecasts. Research includes assessing, understanding and predicting the effects of climate and environmental variability on the production of living marine resources, ecosystem structure and ecosystem function. The integration of ecosystem and climate research reaches across all divisions at the SWFSC.  Links to the SWFSC ocean observing systems, PaCOOS, and long-term California Cooperative Fisheries Investigations (CalCOFI) are shown below. Please see links under Oceanography for related topics.
